ContraBlast® Lightweight Blast and Fire Protection
ContraBlast® provides significant weight savings while protecting assets, maintaining structural integrity and safeguarding personnel working in challenging environments including offshore and onshore oil and gas, defence, renewables and LNG.
Product specifications
ContraBlast® panels are manufactured using our award winning MS400 lightweight syntactic phenolic foam as the core material reinforced with a laminate matrix. A purpose designed multi layer laminate skin is used as a weather proof outer cover. A vacuum resin transfer (VRT) process is used to infuse the components with phenolic resin ensuring a robust bonded integral panel formed without the need for adhesives.
- Integrated passive fire protection (PFP) and insulation up to H120 & J120
- Blast rating up to 1.5 bar
- Nominal weight 54 kg/m2 for 1.5 bar application
- Lightweight or standard systems available depending on project specifications

Blast and fire walls
Blast and firewalls are deployed to provide fire, blast, and gas-tight division around living quarters, utilities, process modules, storage tanks, and control rooms. The extent of the fire and blast requirements can be accommodated through multiple types of AIS panels which combine blast, passive fire protection, and thermal insulation into a single panel.
