Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) Buoys are offshore marine terminals comprised of a floating hull connected to the seafloor with catenary anchor legs and a rotating turntable to which tankers can moor to enable import or export of oil and refined products.
Industry Highlights
- Algeria: SOFEC’s CALM Buoy project for Sonatrach was the single largest CALM Buoy order in the industry at that time, with five CALM Buoy Systems including offshore and onshore pipelines, pump stations, manifolding, metering, tank farm tie-ins, and power distribution and protection
- Nigeria: Delivered CALM Buoys for crude and refined product to Dangote Oil Refining Company for the second order of five CALM Buoys under a single contract in company history
- Saudi Arabia: Supplied two CALM Buoy systems for Saudi Aramco for a refinery at Jazan Economic City
- Mexico: Delivered three replacement CALM Buoys for PEMEX at the Rosarita, Tuxpan, and Salina Cruz terminal locations followed by two additional buoys at Tuxpan and Salina Cruz
